The Storm Shield app is primarily a warning/alerting program based upon actual alerts issued by the National Weather Service.

"Special Weather" and "Significant Weather" statements are essentially informational notices on "possible" conditions that may have low probability.  When the probability and potential impact/risk increases, the NWS would issue a "Watch", "Warning", etc.

Even this low-probability information is of interest to some members of a community and the local TV stations often include these in their weather forecasting service.

The option to select these "Advisories" is available within Storm Shield for some conditions where the potential for injury or damage may exist, but these are "Not-Selected" by default.
