Enabling Push Notifications for Severe Weather Alerts

Storm Shield allows you to subscribe to severe weather alerts for your current and saved locations.  You can now choose to receive push notifications for over 160 weather alert types.

To choose which alert types you would like to receive, on the Map screen tap Settings (the gear icon in the upper left-hand corner), then Manage Weather Alerts.

Here you can check or uncheck which alerts you prefer to receive and not receive. (NOTE:  All alerts are enabled by default.  Just tap on the checkmark to disable any alerts that you do not want to receive).  Once you have your desired selection, hit the Save button up in the top right-hand corner.

As always, when you receive a push notification from the Storm Shield App, you will hear an audio notification that says: "Beep! Beep! Beep! The National Weather Service has issued a 'Name of Alert'."

With version 4.4, if a user has subscribed to the in-app Subscription for Lightning Alerts, you can now enable and disable Lightning push notifications with an on/off toggle switch (found in the Settings screen).  When you have Lightning Alerts enabled, a new slider lets you adjust the notification sensitivity between 1 and 10 miles. Adjust this by 1-mile increments to be notified of lightning strikes within X miles.
